So I'm sitting here at the airport...yet AGAIN...and at just a ridiculous time of morning (4:48 am at the moment) and waiting for my plane to my gig in Michigan. My gate is D 54. Now, if you don't know about Las Vegas' McCarran airport then you probably don't know about the D gate. The D gate is the line that is ALWAYS backed up for security and then once you get through and you think you're done you have to get on a little tram that takes you to the actual gate. Now, on the tram, of course 99.9% of the people push and shove to get into the tram. Then the minute they step inside they don't continue on to the middle of the tram space so the rest of the people can get in. Aaand it sucks. I feel bad for the people who could actually fit into the tram but don't get to make it because of the stupid travelers who bite and claw their way onboard but don't have the common sense to realize they have to move INTO the tram car to allow it to fill up and have room for everybody. Grrr, just frustrates me. I hate the D gate.
There's been way too much going on to update the Secret Diary and even my performing schedule on the web site for that matter. Temika and I figured out we were in 4 states in 24 hours at one time when we were on our non-stop and non-sleep run a few weeks ago. It was a great time and all the audiences were amazing and supportive. We did a kick butt fundraiser in Louisville KY with our buddy Michael Finny and the man that made it all possible Pat Miller and his wife. We also did some other stops along the way and afterwards including Ferris State which had to be the best group of people we've ever had the pleasure to work with. Even though the show was on a Tuesday night and what college student wants to come out to see a magic show after a day's long of classes and probably work and then knowing they still have another 1/2 of their week ahead of them with most likely an early rise the next morning to do it all over again. But, they did come out anyway and it was a lot of fun.
Besides all of our crazy performing schedule we've had some personal stuff to get in the way and distract us as well. A few weeks ago Temika's dog had to be put to sleep. She was 18 and it was just her time. She was in too much pain and discomfort due to many many health problems that just come from being an old dog. Yesterday was my dog, Athena's turn. Athena was almost 13 years old and she too had become the victim of just doggy old age with steroids needed to even keep her somewhat mobile and alert. She had many growths on her skin among other things that just would have been too hard on her to try to get in and remove. It's been a really really sad and hard time for both of us as these were the dogs that we grew up with. I'm really thankful that I have Spike as well and he helps make it easier. It is amazing how in tune animals can be and especially birds with their incredible intelligence. The past few weeks he's seemed to be extra snuggly and talkative to us in an almost little whisper voice he has that he busts out any time he can tell Temika and I are unhappy. Its almost eerie.
What has also helped is the latest addition to the family - Merlin. Merlin will be turning 1 year old this coming may and he is a rare breed Pomeranian with a silky straight coat and not the big poofy coats you see on most Poms. He belonged to some really close friends of ours and he just wasn't workign out in their current situation so we ended up adopting him. Here is a picture of Merlin:

But now looks like we are about to board so I can get on my bed with wings and grab a few hours of sleep. Until next time...
